Olathe Attorney John E. Harvell
John E. Harvell was born and raised in the Johnson County area and graduated
from Shawnee Mission South High School. He attended both Kansas State
University and the University of Kansas, graduating with honors with a
degree in Sociology and Child Psychology. Mr. Harvell is a 1989 graduate
of Washburn University Law School.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Harvell worked in Sedgwick County
District Attorney's Office in Wichita, Kansas. While working in Sedgwick
County, Mr. Harvell tried over 25 DUI and miscellaneous crime jury trials.
He worked in the City of Overland Park and handled general misdemeanor
crimes and DUIs; thereafter, he worked as a prosecuting attorney in Jackson
County, Missouri Circuit Court. While working in Jackson County, Mr. Harvell
handled all of the fatality DWI accidents.
After leaving the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, Mr. Harvell was an
associate with deVries & Associates in Kansas City, Missouri for 11
years specializing in criminal defense. Mr. Harvell then began his own
practice in Johnson County emphasizing criminal defense. During that time,
Mr. Harvell has also been employed as the prosecutor for the City of Merriam,
Kansas, and is currently the Judge in the City of Merriam.
Mr. Harvell's building is located two blocks south of the Johnson County
courthouse. He specializes in DUI, domestic violence and a variety of
misdemeanor and felony criminal charges in Johnson County and its surrounding
municipal courts. Mr. Harvell is an experienced trial attorney and routinely
